Top NBA Plays 3/15| Julius (Caesar) Randle Day?
Beware the Ides of March, they say on this Monday. It's the anniversary of Julius Caesar's death and supposedly an unlucky day in general. It looks like we can get ready for late scratches, early foul trouble, and unforeseen blowout games.
If only Carmelo (Mark) Antony was playing tonight. Et tu, Bruno Fernando?
Today's NBA Matchups
Kings @ Hornets (-3.5) , O/U 239, 7:00 PM ET
If you're not named the Houston Rockets the Kings are going to give you 120+. That's what has happened in 5 of the last 6 for Sacramento, started by a 127-126 loss to these Hornets on February 28th. PJ Washington dropped 42 real points in that game.
Bucks (-8.5) @ Wizards, O/U 242, 7:00 PM ET
This is a rematch of Saturday's 125-119 Bucks win in which Russ Westbrook went for 42/10/12 (81fp) but with Bradley Beal out of the lineup with a sore knee. Antetokounmpo countered with 33/11/11 (71fp) but Beal should be back.
Knicks @ Nets (-8.5), O/U 223, 8:00 PM ET
Hard to predict a blowout when the Nets only beat the Pistons 100-95 on Saturday. The Knicks run a slower tempo and have a better defense than Detroit.
Spurs (-2.5) @ Pistons, O/U 215.5, 8:00 PM ET
Hard game to target here with the lowest betting total of the night. The Spurs played yesterday - but did they really in a 134-99 loss to Philadelphia. DeMar DeRozan is still out for personal reasons.
Clippers (-1.5) @ Mavericks, O/U 227.5, 9:00 PM ET
The supposedly vaunted Clippers defense served up 135 to New Orleans yesterday. The Pelicans being up 33 at one point yesterday did save minutes for Kawhi Leonard and Paul George though as both stayed under 30.
Pacers @ Nuggets (-4.5), O/U 224, 9:00 PM ET
This could be a big night for Indiana because it seems like Denver should be favored by much more than -4.5. The Pacers wrap up a quick 3-game West Coast swing, beating Phoenix 122-111 on Saturday while the Nuggets had their 5-game win streak snapped with a home loss to Dallas.
Grizzlies @ Suns (-7), O/U 227, 10:00 PM ET
Memphis is on the back to back tonight after falling 128-122 in OKC on Sunday. The Suns had won five straight before losing at home to Indiana on Saturday. The extra day of rest should be huge here.
Lakers (-2.5) @ Warriors, O/U 224, 10:30 PM ET
L.A. is favored in the Bay even though they have their usual 7-players on the injury report.
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Devin Booker DK $8k | FD $7.5k
vs. Memphis
I think the Suns go off on a Memphis team on the back to back, just hopefully not too off that it's a blowout. The Grizzlies usually have a good defense (8th in efficiency, 9th vs. the SG) but just allowed 30 real points to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander yesterday and are on the short turnaround.
Jrue Holiday DK $6.5k | FD $5.8k
@ Washington
Jrue Holiday was a $7.5, nearly $8k player before his Coronavirus pause so to get him at this price is a steal. He's working his way back into game shape, finally logging 30+ minutes on Saturday and responding with 38fp against these Wizards. Washington ranks 29th vs. opposing PGs.
Malik Monk DK $5k | FD $4.3
vs. Sacramento
The way things work is that the Kings and Hornets, who combined for 253 at the end of February will probably end 103-99 tonight. If not though, that's some great pricing on Malik Monk, who had 21 points off the bench in that first meeting. He also had 45fp vs. Sacramento last year so definitely likes the matchup.
Jordan Poole $3.7k | FD $3.6k
vs. Lakers
Increased minutes for Jordan Poole tonight? The Warriors are on the back to back, but Poole only logged 22 minutes in the win over Utah. He's been blowing up projections since returning three games ago, and is launching taking a shot slightly less than every 2 minutes.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Giannis Antetokounmpo DK $11.1k | FD $11.1k
@ Washington
Giannis and Russ went after each other on Saturday. Bradley Beal being back has no effect on the fact that the Wizards had no answer for Antetokounmpo, who dropped 71 fp. Why wouldn't he do it again?
Michael Porter, Jr. DK $6.8k | FD $6.7k
vs. Indiana
Time to go back to the Michael Porter, Jr. well here? He's put together a nice floor of 35fp in six of the last seven, hitting a ceiling of 47 vs. these Pacers on March 4th in Indiana. The Pacers had no answers as Porter scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
RJ Barrett DK $6.2k | FD $5.7k
@ Brooklyn
Whenever you get on board RJ Barrett takes a dive, but he's been hovering around 6X this price in 4 of the last 6. The Knicks are pretty banged up and playing Brooklyn's #8 pace and #25 defense.
Marvin Bagley III DK $6k | FD $5.9k
@ Charlotte
It seems like everybody had 45fp nights in the Hornets 127-126 win over the Kings at the end of February and that includes Marvin Bagley III, who had 24 points and 10 boards. Ownership is low tonight (6% proj) as Bagley hasn't broken 25fp the last two. Those were a 20 point win and a 15 point loss though, so he's in play vs. the Hornets #29 defense vs. the PF.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Jonas Valanciunas DK $7.6k | FD $7.4k
@ Phoenix
The Grizzlies are on the b2b tonight, but Jonas Valanciunas has had 44 and 43 fp in his last two second-leggers. Valanciunas had 16 points and 14 boards vs. the Thunder on Sunday, his 4th game with at least a dozen boards in the last five. He's got 20/20 potential (vs. Washington on 3/10)
Brook Lopez DK $4.8k | FD $4.7k
@Washington
You need to take a cold shower after this play or have a chug of whiskey but the Washington defense is that bad vs. the C position. Bobby Portis is a PF on Fanduel, so Lopez is the play, getting some minutes against his brother at times. Lopez only had 11 points and 5 rebounds in Saturday's matchup, but the Wizards are 29th vs. the C and have the 5th worst rebounding team in the league.
