Top NBA Plays 3/2| Almost Break Time
Minutes restrictions should be thrown out the window this week as we inch closer to the all-star break. There's a 10-game on Wednesday, and 9 on Thursday before the NBA takes a week off. That's putting the cart ahead of the horse, however, as we've got 6 games to attack on the Tuesday slate. Let's get to it:
Today's NBA Matchups
Grizzlies (-1) @ Wizards , O/U 236, 7:00 PM ET
It's hard to wrap around why Memphis is favored in what looks like a 🐀Trap Game🧀. The Wizards lost on Sunday, but by one point and on a back-to-back against Boston. The Grizzlies won by almost 50 in their last game, but against the absolutely atrocious Rockets.
Hawks @ Heat (-3.5), O/U 221.5, 7:30 PM ET
This is a rematch of Sunday's game that Miami won 109-99. The Heat have now rattled off six wins in a row, but Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro are both questionable for tonight's game.
Clippers (-4) @ Celtics , O/U 220, 7:30 PM ET
The Clippers are 1-2 on their current road trip, scoring 100 points or less in both losses. Jaylen Brown (knee) is questionable for Boston.
Knicks (-1) @ Spurs, O/U 216.5, 8:00 PM ET
New York is in a great spot, winners of three straight and facing a shorthanded Spurs squad that went into OT with Brooklyn last night. San Antonio still has five guys on the COVID list, and they burned up 42 minutes of DeMar DeRozan last night as well.
Nuggets @ Bucks (-7), O/U 235, 9:00 PM ET
Strangely enough, the Nuggets are in a possible 🕯️Blowout Spot🕯️ playing on the back-to-back against a Bucks team that has won five straight. Milwaukee has been at home for the last 12 days, and Denver used up 33 minutes from all five starters vs. the Bulls last night.
Suns @ Lakers (-1.5), O/U 214, 10:00 PM ET
Phoenix has cranked up the scoring lately, going for 118+ in 6 of the last 7. They've also held two straight opponents to under 100 points. The betting total is low here, but it also has OT written all over it.
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Chris Paul DK $7.5k | FD $7.5k
@Lakers
This is great pricing for Chris Paul, up against the nonexistent defense of Dennis Schroder. The Lakers have allowed at least 37fp to five straight PGs, and Paul is on a roll with 15 assists and 6 boards the last two games to go along with any scoring he gets. A matchup with 🍌banana boat buddy🍌 Lebron never hurts either.
Jrue Holiday DK $7.2k | FD $7.4k
vs. Nuggets
The "PGs vs. the Nuggets" angle worked last night as Chicago's Coby White had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jrue Holiday is an enigma, playing just 18 minutes off the bench on Sunday but it was also his first game in 3 weeks due to COVID tracing. DJ Augustin ($3.8k) is a nice pivot here too for the Bucks, who may run away with this one.
Derrick Rose DK $5.9k | FD $6.2k
@ San Antonio
I think you go D-Rose or Imannuel Quickley here because it's going to be tough for the Spurs to do the turnaround after last night's OT loss to Brooklyn. The Spurs rank dead last vs. the PG position anyways, and now you've got three back court players on the COVID list, with Murray and Lonnie Walker both logging 36+ minutes last night.
Kendrick Nunn DK $5.5| FD $5.8k
vs. Atlanta
Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro are both on the injury report (Herro likely to play, Butler questionable) which would give Nunn a 5.64 fp boost if they sit. Either way, it's a nice matchup with Atlanta, who is debuting new coach Nate McMillan. The Hawks rank 26th vs. the PG, and Nunn will either give us 40fp or 15 tonight. Worth the risk for the price.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Jayson Tatum DK $9.4k | FD $9.3k
vs. Clippers
There's probably no better time to get on board the Tatum Trolley. He's coming off a couple of horrible shooting games in the last three (4-20 and 4-18) and seemingly has a tough matchup with the Clippers defense. Jaylen Brown is a GTD though (+3% usage, +4fp) and Tatum actually plays well vs. LAC, landing in the perfect lineup three straight against them.
Julius Randle DK $9.3k | FD $9.5k
@ San Antonio
The Spurs are a respectable 14th vs. the PF, but that's under normal circumstances. San Antonio is still shorthanded from COVID, and now playing on the back-to-back after an OT battle with Brooklyn last night. Enter Julius Randle, who has a 47fp floor over the last 5 and should be able to do what he wants in the post tonight.
Will Barton DK $5.4k | FD $4.9
@ Milwaukee
Much like Jokic, Will Barton's 36 minutes last night might not matter as much since the all-star break is coming and Denver is shorthanded. If any Nuggets player's minutes are limited, it should be the injury-prone Michael Porter, Jr. who played 35 last night vs. the Bulls. The more minutes the better for Barton vs. Milwaukee, as he's hit 35+ fp in three straight vs. the Bucks.
Justise Winslow DK $3.9k | FD $4.4
@ Washington
Justise Winslow returned four games ago and finally found his shot scoring 20 real points vs. Houston on Saturday. He's forward eligible, but also runs the point at times vs. the Wizards in a game with a 236 betting total. Oddsmakers are begging you to take the Wizards +1 (winners of 7 of 9 but home underdogs?) which usually means a big Memphis night.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Nikola Jokic DK $10.8k | FD $11k
@ Milwaukee
Denver is on the back to back, but the all-star break is near (rest) and Nikola Jokic may have to play at full usage out of necessity as the Nuggets are a bit shorthanded right now. Jokic had 39/14/9 last night vs. the Bulls, and the Bucks also offer little resistance on the post.
Jonas Valanciunas DK $7.2k | FD $7k
@Washington
Memphis is going to put up some points tonight, as their matchup with the Wizards seems like a trap game. Jonas Valanciunas only had 13fp on Saturday, but he also got in early foul trouble and the Griz won by almost 50 points. Washington just allowed 25fp in 19 minutes to Tristan Thompson, and 50+ to C's in the two games prior.
