Top NBA Plays 3/21 | No Second Stage Here
Yes, we all have "bracket fever" as the NCAA tournament kicks off today. It actually might be a great night to sneak in and have some NBA DFS success as everybody else is distracted with college hoops.
The NBA said, "don't forget about us today" as they've trotted out a nice 6 game card. It's not all just about the college kids as we dive into what the pros have on tap for tonight:
Tonight's Headline Games
The Pacers have the #1 scoring defense in the NBA, so does that put Warriors players on the back burner for DFS tonight?
The Mavs lost 118-126 last night and play the up-pace Kings on a back-to-back. The last time Sacramento was in action they were outscored 45-18 in the 4th quarter by the Nets, so this may be the game to have exposure on (O/U 229.5).
Can the Hornets put together another big DFS night? Minnesota has lost 4 in a row, giving up 133, 120, 117, and 117 points in the process.
The Wizards have also allowed 116+ in four straight games, which bodes well for Nuggets' exposure today.
Guards
De'Aaron Fox (DK: $7,300 FD: $8,500 Y! $32) Ownership: 15%
Last night against Dallas, Damian Lillard of the Trail Blazers went for 33 points, 5 rebounds, and 12 assists. De'Aaron Fox gets to face that Mavs defense on Thursday but with Dallas on the back-to-back. Sacramento hasn't gotten much from Buddy Hield lately, as he's been held to 16 points or less in 4 of 5. That means Fox should easily continue his streak of four 40+ fp games in his last six. The Kings PG went for 28 points and 5 assists in Dallas back in December.
Troy Brown (DK: $3,100 FD: $3,500 Y! $10) Ownership 0.7%
How much Bradley Beal do we see tonight vs. Washington after he logged 44 minutes vs. Chicago on Wednesday? With Trevor Ariza also questionable with a groin injury and Jabari Parker, Tomas Satoransky, and Bobby Portis all playing over 37 minutes, it should mean increased usage for Troy Brown, Jr. Brown can play the G and F position and hauled in 10 boards while scoring 9 points yesterday. Brown's first 30+ fantasy point of the year should be looming Thursday.
Josh Okogie (DK: $3,900 FD: $4,300 Y! $12) Ownership 1.9%
'Doing some value searching at G to try and squeeze in a high scoring big man at the utility position and Josh Okogie of Minnesota fits this slot nicely. There's no Jeff Teague or Derrick Rose for the rest of the season and Tyus Jones has been unimpressive in his roll as the starting PG, so it's Okogie's time in the Wolves backcourt. He's responded nicely, scoring 19 and 21 points in consecutive games, good for back-to-back 30+ point fantasy nights. No reason to think that doesn't continue as Charlotte has allowed 50+ fp nights to 4 of the past 5 SG's they've faced.
Forwards
Marvin Bagley III (DK: $5,600 FD: $6,600 Y!: $24) Ownership 7.4%
There continues to be just too much value on Marvin Bagley III to pass up even though everybody probably knows the fade game is looming. Bagley III has a favorable matchup vs. a Dallas team on a B2B and he probably has some personal pride to put on display, proving he was the right #2 pick over the Mavs' Luka Doncic. The production has been there for Bagley since returning from knee injury, even if the minutes haven't been. Tuesday vs. Brooklyn, for example, Bagley notched 28 points and 7 boards in 29 minutes as the Kings fell 121-123 to Brooklyn.
Paul Millsap (DK: $6,700 FD: $7,500 Y!: $27) Ownership 7.84%
Does Paul Millsap simply like playing on Thursdays? The day of the week angle is a rough one to rely on but 7 days ago the Nuggets PF went for 33 points and 8 boards vs. the Mavs for a 50 point fantasy night. Millsap has posted double-doubles in both games since then and has a positive matchup vs. the Wizards (O/U 230) who are in a B2B. Washington gives up 32 fppg to PF including 7 reb/game but we want more than that tonight.
Jeremy Lamb (DK: $6,500 FD: $7,000 Y! $26) Ownership 11.8%
There's definitely potential for Charlotte's Kemba Walker tonight vs. a Minnesota defense that has allowed back-to-back 50 fp games to PG's. Walker is kind of trailing off towards the end of the year, however, as he's scored just 10 and 21 points the last two and has only two 40+ fp nights in his last 8. The real value for the Hornets remains to be on Jeremy Lamb, who has a 47 and a 50 fantasy point night in his last 6. Lamb had 18 points and 11 rebounds at the Target Center on December 5th - and that's when Minnesota had a healthy back court.
Center
Myles Turner (DK: $6,400, FD; $7,900 Y!:$29 ) Ownership 8.68%
Forgive Indiana's Myles Turner for his last game (5-9, 5 rebs, 26 mins) as the Pacers were playing on the second leg of a back-to-back. With a day of rest under his belt, Turner should be able to return to the form that saw him net four 40+ point games out of the six prior. Indiana has Golden State tonight and Karl-Anthony Towns just exploited the Warriors for 26 points and 21 rebounds on Tuesday. Boogie Cousins could return for GSW on Thursday - but does that hurt or help Turner's DFS potential?
All hands on deck as the Pacers try to snap a 3-game losing streak and hold on to the 4 seed in the East.
Utility Player
Karl-Anthony Towns (DK:$10,000 FD:$11,500 Y!: $52) Ownership 23.5%
Taking some chances elsewhere in the lineup to leave a boatload of loot available for the utility spot. Karl-Anthony Towns had 35 points and 12 rebounds the last time he squared off against Charlotte and is coming off a 26 point, 21 rebound outing vs. Golden State on Tuesday. Minnesota is banged up and somebody has to score - Towns is a good bet to be that somebody.
Don't get too buried in brackets today because there's a lot of DFS potential with the NBA card that is on the schedule. 7 games are also on the slate for Friday. Until then, check out Carl Taylor (@dailydogsports) on Twitter for more NBA betting talk and DFS news.
