Top NBA Plays 3/4| Vacation-itis
We've entered the last day prior to the all-star game for the NBA. Anybody who has ever worked an office job on a Friday before a trip to Vegas or the last day of work before an all-inclusive trip to the Dominican knows that production is likely going to be down here.
Production as in defense though. We're going straight up Rec-League ball thinking that all 9 games are going to be higher scoring. Let's get one more in before play reconvenes back on March 11th.
Today's NBA Matchups
Clippers (-5.5) @ Wizards , O/U 235, 7:00 PM ET
A lot of implied points for a Clippers game, but 230s are the norm in the last five Wizards contests. LAC gets the best pace boost of the night and could also be without Kawhi Leonard (back).
Raptors @ Celtics (-8), O/U 220, 7:00 PM ET
The shorthanded Raptors lost by24 to Detroit last night, lowering Boston's value in a likely, very likely, blowout.
Pistons @ Knicks (-7), O/U 208.5, 7:30 PM ET
New York laid an egg that the Easter Bunny would be envious of in their 119-93 loss to a Spurs team playing on the back to back on Tuesday. They get a similar situation, albeit at home, vs. a Pistons squad that thumped the depleted Raptors last night.
Nuggets (-4.5) @ Pacers, O/U 226.5, 8:00 PM ET
Let down game for Denver? The Nuggets destroyed Milwaukee by 31 points on Tuesday for their third straight win. That's how the NBA works though, the Pacers win this one even on 0 days rest and beating Cleveland by just 3 points last night. Why is this spread just -4.5?
Bucks (-6) @ Grizzlies , O/U 234, 8:00 PM ET
Nice betting total to target here. One of the problems with Memphis is that they are too balanced, with seven players scoring in double figures in the 14 point win over Washington on Tuesday. The Griz could still take this one, especially with Milwaukee going on the road for the first time in the last eight games and getting pummeled by the Nuggets last time out.
Heat @ Pelicans (-2.5), O/U 227, 8:30 PM ET
This one's all about who plays for Miami, with Jimmy Butler (knee) and Bam Adebayo (knee) both on the injury report. New Orleans is on the b2b after a loss to the Bulls last night, but Stan Van Gundy preserved the minutes of Lonzo Ball (26:25), Brandon Ingram (24:53), and Steven Adams (21:16).
Thunder @ Spurs (-7), O/U 218.5, 9:00 PM ET
Hard game to target as the Thunder lost 87-78 against a Luka-less Dallas team last night. The Spurs beat the Knicks by 26 last time out, even on the b2b.
Warriors @ Suns (-6.5), O/U 224, 10:00 PM ET
Golden State is on the back to back after a lower-than-expected 108-106 loss to Portland last night. Steph Curry had 58fp, but in 36 minutes and Draymond Green dished out 12 more assists but also in 36 minutes. Do the Suns run away with this one?
Kings @ Trail Blazers (-4), O/U 236.5, 10:00 PM ET
Highest betting total of the night on a slate with some pretty big numbers. The Kings beat the Lakers last night but allowed 120+ for the sixth time in the last seven games. Can Portland take advantage of that, even on 0 days rest themselves? Lillard, Trent, and Covington all logged 36+ last night, but all systems go with the all-star break coming up?
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Kemba Walker DK $7.2k | FD $7k
vs. Toronto
We really just need Kemba Walker to play regular minutes tonight. Toronto is thinner than a Saltine and playing on the back to back. Detroit went for 129 vs. the Raptors last night, meaning Payton Pritchard ($3.9k) is a nice pivot here too.
TJ McConnell DK $6k | FD $5k
vs. Denver
Chase? You bet. 10 steals again? Not likely. That being said McConnell has 15+ points and 12+ assists in two of the last three and is playing a Nuggets team that isn't particularly well vs. the PG position. 36 minutes yesterday don't matter heading into the all-star break.
Derrick Rose DK $5.9k | FD $6.2k
vs. Detroit
D-Rose is on the COVID list (negative test), so tread lightly with this play but it's technically a revenge game even though his time with Detroit wasn't all that memorable. Elfrid Payton is doubtful, and Rose has been a perfect lineup play in two of the last four. Great matchup if he goes.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Julius Randle DK $9.6k | FD $9.3k
vs. Pistons
He's back home after a bad 6-16 shooting night vs. a depleted Spurs team. Randle also played a very low 31 minutes as the Knicks were getting beat down by San Antonio - and still put up a decent 38fp. Detroit comes to the Garden on the b2b tonight, ranking 30th in the league vs. the PF.
Jimmy Butler DK $9.4k | FD $9.5k
@ Pelicans
Does Jimmy Buckets get one in before the all-star break? He's sat the last two and plays pretty much every position, but SFs vs. the Pelicans are a thing. Even the 21.25 fp from Garrett Temple last night was above his average, and New Orleans certainly doesn't do themselves any favors being on the b2b.
DeMar DeRozan DK $8.2k | FD $8.5
vs. Oklahoma City
Talk about facilitating. DeRozan went for 41fp on Tuesday in the big win over the Knicks while shooting just 2-5 from the field. We don't want OKC to get blown out tonight as they play on the b2b, but DeRozan has been a force with the Spurs missing guys due to COVID.
Carmelo Anthony DK $5.5k | FD $5.4
vs. Sacramento
Once again, the 32 minutes last night don't matter heading into the all-star break. This is an all-star preview, meaning there will be no defense with both Portland and Sacramento being on the b2b. A 236 betting total means Carmelo has a great chance to keep his run of 31+ fp in three of the last four in tact.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Nikola Jokic DK $10.9k | FD $11.6k
@Indiana
I kind of think the Nuggets lay an egg tonight - which is a good thing as it keeps the game close. You still have to ride this tide of 75+ for Jokic the last two. He went for 37/10/11 vs. the Bucks on Tuesday even while the Nuggets were beating Milwaukee by 31.
Jonas Valanciunas DK $7.5k | FD $6.8k
vs. Milwaukee
You play C's vs. the Bucks, as they've given up 35+ to the likes of Steven Adams and Serge Ibaka over the last three games. Valanciunas grabbed 16 boards Tuesday vs. the Wizards, the 7th time in the last 8 games he's hit double digit rebounds.
