Top NBA Plays 4/12| Judgment Month

We're entering about a month left in the NBA regular season, and it's a unique time of year because this week is when the playoffs would usually start. With the weather getting nicer some teams have already checked out, like Orlando who lost by almost 40 points Sunday, or Detroit, who gave up 30 rebounds to Enes Kanter over the weekend.

These blowout games can be hard to target, especially when teams can look at these matchups as a free off day to rest up before the postseason. Does that make the best strategy from here on out to target games where two non-postseason teams are playing each other?

Today's NBA Matchups

Sixers (-2.5) @ Mavs, O/U 218, 7:30 PM ET

Philadelphia wraps up a 4-game road trip tonight, hoping to go home at least staying tied with Brooklyn for the top spot in the East (Nets play T'Wolves on b2b). It might be a fade the Mavs night as they are on 0 days rest, and the 76ers have held 5 of 7 opponents to 104 or less.

Lakers @ Knicks (-2.5), O/U OFF, 7:30 PM ET

L.A looked good on Saturday, beating the Nets by 25 behind 20 & 11 from Andre Drummond and a 9X night from Talen Horton-Tucker in his 2nd start of the year. The Knicks are a different egg though, holding 7 of the last 9 to 102 points or less.

Spurs (-5) @ Magic, O/U 220.5, 8:00 PM ET

Oddsmakers are giving the shrug on this one as neither team appears to be interested in the last month of the season. Orlando has lost five in a row, the Spurs five of their last six. Both teams are also on the back to back, so this one could end 128-124 or 103-96.

Nets (-9.5) @ Timberwolves, O/U 240.5, 8:00 PM ET

That's a generous spread for Brooklyn considering Harden (hamstring) and Kyrie Irving (personal) are out. Kevin Durant is still only projected for 42fp though, even with Minnesota on the back to back.

Bulls @ Grizzlies (-2.5), O/U 229.5, 9:00 PM ET

Searching for some undisclosed Memphis injuries or something because how is Chicago just a +2.5 underdog here? Both teams are on the short turnaround after losses yesterday, and the Griz have allowed 130+ in consecutive games but still?

Kings @ Pelicans (-2.5), O/U 233.5, 9:00 PM ET

Zion Williamson has averaged 62.5fp the last two games, but also logged 36 minutes in yesterday's win over the Cavs. The Kings played in an 'over' game even against Utah's #4 defense on Saturday (128-112 L) so the points should be coming vs. New Orleans' 3rd worst unit. Lonzo Ball (hip) is possibly back for the Pelicans here.

Wizards @ Jazz (-12), O/U 234.5, 9:00 PM ET

Look at that betting total despite this game featuring Utah's #4 scoring defense. The Wizards offense isn't even scoring as much lately (110 or less in 6 of 7) but did allow 134 points to Phoenix on Saturday. Bradley Beal (back) is probable.

Nuggets (4.5) @ Warriors, O/U 225.5, 10:00 PM ET

Oddsmakers are calling for maybe a closer one than expected with Denver just a -4.5 favorite here. The Nuggets did lose by 18 at home against Boston yesterday and it's possible that Jamal Murray (knee) is out again, but the Warriors have lost 4 of 6.

Rockets @ Suns (-13), O/U 228, 10:00 PM ET

Blowout spot for the Suns who cruised to a 28 point win over the Wizards on Saturday. Houston lost by 14 and 15 at the Clippers and Warriors over the weekend.

Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables

De'Aaron Fox DK $9.3k | FD $9.5k

@New Orleans

De'Aaron Fox doesn't seem to be a huge Lonzo Ball fan, scoring 63fp vs. the Pelicans PG earlier this season (38/4/12). Fox also had 43/4/13 (78fp) vs. New Orleans on January 17th, without Ball in the lineup so he's a play.

Donovan Mitchell DK $9.2k | FD $9k

vs. Washington

Donovan Mitchell plays with no Mike Conley or possibly Jordan Clarkson tonight for Utah (+2% USG, +6.79fp) up against a Wizards team that is 26th vs. the SG. Mitchell has 37+ real points in three straight, making a run for MVP.

D'Angelo Russell DK $6.6k | FD $7.5k

vs. Brooklyn

D'Angelo Russell is finding his scoring stroke in minimal minutes, hitting 25+ real points in three of the last four coming off the bench. Russell logged just 25:36 yesterday vs. the Bulls, so should be fairly fresh for a matchup (on DK) with his old mates.

Joe Ingles DK $5.7k | FD $6k

vs. Washington

Joe Ingles has seen a minutes boost the last two (31+) and he's responded with a couple 33+ fp games. That type of usage should continue with Mike Conley out and Jordan Clarkson. It's also a favorable matchup for Ingles vs. the Wizards, who he torched for 34 real points last month (with Conley out).

Tonight's SF / PF Notables

Kevin Durant DK $9k | FD $5.5

@MIN

In Durant's two games back he's been in a 28-point win and a 25-point loss, not incredibly great for minutes but he's also working back from a hamstring injury. Kyrie Irving heads to the shelf tonight joining James Harden, giving Durant a +5.53% USG and +13.73fp bump vs. a Minnesota team on 0 days rest.

Dillon Brooks DK $5.6k | FD $5.6k

vs. Chicago

If the 🎢 trend is a thing, Dillon Brooks should be in for a big night against the Bulls after a 6-17, 1 rebound, 0 assist dud yesterday vs. the Pacers. Brooks has Chicago tonight, a team that is pretty good vs. the SF but also on the short turnaround.

Talen Horton-Tucker DK $5.3k | FD $6k

@New York

It's not the greatest matchup vs. the Knicks, but New York is also on 0 days rest. Talen-Horton Tucker got the start last time out for the Lakers, scoring 14 points and dishing out 11 assists. Kyle Kuzma is questionable again, and THT is an unknown with great upside.

Tonight's Center Position Notables

Jonas Valanciunas DK $7.3k | FD $7.8k

vs. Chicago

Jonas Valanciunas is on the short turnaround tonight, but he's coming off a 34 point, 22 rebound performance vs. the Pacers. That should be a wash with Chicago also on 0 days rest, and the Bulls allowing a 38 point, 19 rebound game to Chris Boucher last week. J-Val has hit the perfect spot in three straight.

Mo Bamba DK $4.3k | FD $5.2k

vs. San Antonio

If we could combine Wendell Carter, Jr. and Mo Bamba we'd have a dominant DFS center. There's upside for both of them tonight vs. the Spurs, who have allowed 28 rebounds to the last two starting C's they've faced, and are also 30th in the league vs. reserve C's over the last 5 games. Bamba has 30+ fp in three straight giving him DK upside.
