Top NBA Plays 4/17 | A Weird DFS Night to Uncork
There are at least three games on the NBA playoff schedule for the rest of the week, which provides some DFS options. It's actually a great time to jump in and have some daily fantasy success as teams have tipped their hand on usage, rotation, and psyche through the first 2 or so games of their respective series. Let's keep rolling with postseason editions of the Daily Dribble.
Tonight's DFS Headlines
Tonight's card is interesting, as it features a defensive oriented game (Pacers vs. Celtics) as well as Bucks and Rockets teams that combined to win their opening round games by 67 points over the Pistons and Jazz, respectively. There are DFS options buried in tonight's card, it just might take some extra digging to find them.
Guards
Luke Kennard (DK: $4100 FD: $4100 Y! $10) Ownership: 5.4%
Does Detroit get dominated again? That's the big question you have to ask to see if Luke Kennard hits value as he did in game 1 going 8/14 from the field including 4/5 from three point range. That's two games in a row Kennard has shot well (9/14 in season finale). Kennard had 19 points in late January vs. Milwaukee, so maybe he just matches up well vs. the East's #1 seed.
Ricky Rubio (DK: $5700 FD: $6500 Y! $18) Ownership 16.35%
All total, Ricky Rubio didn't have a horrible outing in game 1 despite the fact that the Jazz lost by 32 points. Rubio still logged 31 minutes, was able to hoist 11 shots, and had 6 assists for a 31 point fantasy night. This is a Rockets defense that allowed a 57 point fantasy night to Mario Hezonja in the third-to-last game of the regular season and allowed 64 to Russell Westbrook in the finale. There are points to be had at the PG position, especially if Utah can keep Game 2 a bit closer.
Tyreke Evans (DK: $4100 FD: $4300 Y! $10) Ownership 28%
Tyreke Evans is prefaced on Indiana scoring more than the downright hideous 74 points put up in game 1. Despite that poor offensive showing, Evans still managed 11 shots and grabbed 6 boards in just 17 minutes. With about 6-7 minutes more of usage and in an up paced game (+60%) Evans has tremendous value in this one.
Forwards
Khris Middleton (DK: $6700 FD: $7100 Y!: $33) Ownership 17.75%
Khris Middleton is worth spending up for today because a) there are only three games and b) two are slow paced. Middleton will put up his 13+ shots and approach a 35 point fantasy night. If Detroit can regroup and keep things closer than 35 points, we should see more than 25 minutes of usage out of Middleton.
Al Horford (DK: $6600 FD: $7300 Y!: $22) Ownership 17.32%
There's not bad value on Al Horford considering he scored 34 fantasy points in game 1 in a contest that had just 158 total points. The Pacers gave up a 25 rebound night to John Collins in the season finale and are very vulnerable in the front court, ranking 30th defensively vs. both the PF and C, where Horford will see time at both positions. Horford has 34+ fantasy points in 4 of the last 5 he's played in.

Danuel House (DK: $3500 FD: $4200 Y! $10) Ownership 5.52%
A nice sleeper pick for today, even though it's just a 3 game slate, is Houston's Danuel House. Getting the shots wasn't the problem for House in Game 1, it was getting them to drop. He was able to launch 10 three pointers in 25 minutes of court time which shows House has the green light - or at least "did" as he made just three of them. If the shots start to fall, a 35 point fantasy point night isn't a reach.
Center
Rudy Gobert (DK: $7800, FD; $9400 Y!:$40 ) Ownership 25.4%
Not a bad price tag for Rudy Gobert considering there are only 3 games on the NBA card for today. Everybody knows the Jazz got spanked Monday, but Gobert's line was still solid with 22 points and 12 boards. Gobert has posted 40+ fantasy points in 10 straight games. He's been largely contained vs. Clint Capela and Houston this season, but is just playing too well lately to ignore the value.
Utility Player
James Harden (DK:$10700 FD:$12600 Y!: $60) Ownership 78.68%
Everybody has James Harden in their lineup, which essentially puts today's card down to an 8 man showdown. That's fine. Even though Houston scored a big win in Game 1, you get the feeling that Harden was a little antsy, scoring just 29 points in only 32 minutes. If, and that's a big if, Utah can keep it close in this one, Harden absolutely blows up.
