Top NBA Plays 4/1|Rib Tickling and Rim Rattling

It's April 1st and 43-year-old dad Tom Brady tried to pull a fast one on everybody by saying he was going to be buying an MLB expansion franchise and bringing the Expos back. Roughly three people of the 300 million Twitter users thought it was real and didn't realize it was an April Fool's joke immediately.

Brady's dad humor does serve as a reminder that we need to be on edge today when browsing NBA news. Is Victor Oladipo really making his Heat debut tonight? Does James Harden really have a hamstring injury? Did Zion Williamson really hurt his thumb - or is he just setting us up for the Gotcha with that removable thumb trick from the 1970s?

Just be safe and follow LineStar today, we've got legitimate up-to-the-minute NBA news even on this jam packed MLB Opening Day. We pinkie swear.

Today's NBA Matchups

Sixers (-9.5) @ Cavs, O/U 211, 7:00 PM ET

One more roadie for the Sixers, who finally wrap up a 6-game road swing tonight. The trip to the West Coast was getting to Philadelphia a bit with a 10-point loss to the Clippers and falling to Denver by 9 the last two games. Cleveland knows the feeling, back home after a 4-game swing that culminated in a 75-114 loss at Utah on Monday. The Cavs might be able to keep this close coming off 2 days rest.

Wizards (-2.5) @ Pistons, O/U 222, 7:00 PM ET

No Bradley Beal which meant another triple-double for Russell Westbrook who had 22/15/14 vs. Charlotte on Tuesday (70fp). Detroit is a top 10 team vs. the PG overall, but Westbrook had 19/10/19 against them on Saturday (60fp) and that was with Beal playing.

Hornets @ Nets (-3), O/U 224, 7:30 PM ET

Brooklyn as just a -3 favorite over Charlotte suggests some injury news on the Nets, and sure enough James Harden is questionable with a hamstring ailment. Does that mean lock in Kyrie Irving?

Warriors @ Heat (-2.5), O/U 218, 8:00 PM ET

Sure Steph Curry returned with 52fp in a win over the Bulls on Monday, but should Golden State be bigger underdogs than -2.5. The Heat are on 0 days rest after a 97-82 win in Indiana last night, but they're also expected to debut Victor Oladipo. It looks time for another game of Usage Roulette for the Heat.

Magic @ Pelicans (-9), O/U 217.5, 8:00 PM ET

The wheels haven't completely come off for Orlando after their purge at the trade deadline, in fact, they beat the Clippers 103-96 on Tuesday as +11 'dogs. Will New Orleans take the game seriously still, or will they use this as a rest day for Zion Williamson (thumb) and keep Lonzo Ball (hip) out?

Hawks (-1) @ Spurs, O/U 220.5, 8:30 PM ET

Atlanta will get the Spurs with San Antonio playing on 0 days rest. Popovich and company got a revenge win vs. the Kings on Wednesday, and did so relatively easy 120-106 after Sacramento won by 17 on Monday. The Hawks are playing their 7th straight West Coast road game, and San Antonio is in their 7th in a row at home.

Lineup Notes: John Collins (ankle) is out.

Nuggets (-1.5) @ Clippers, O/U 220.5, 10:00 PM ET

Kawhi 💣Explosion Game💣? This line definitely seems like a trap with Denver just a -1.5 favorite despite being on a 3-game win streak. The Clippers are also very thin tonight.

Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables

Russell Westbrook DK $11k | FD $11.3k

@ Detroit

Russell Westbrook has already gone for 70+ fp the last two games without Bradley Beal including a 🥩90 Steak🥩on Monday vs. Indianapolis. Now you've got Stephen A. Smith throwing gas on the flames? 🔒🔒 and throw away the key.

Terry Rozier DK $8k | FD $7.5k

@ Brooklyn

Terry Rozier is playing about every available minute and taking almost every available shot for the Hornets since the LaMelo Ball injury. Rozier has 37+ minutes the last three while launching 18, 19, and 20 times over that span. Brooklyn is thin in the backcourt with Harden joining Landry Shamet on the sidelines and the Nets are also on 0 days rest.

Terrance Mann DK $5.2k | FD $5.1k

vs. Denver

It's not a bad idea to play the Nuggets backcourt vs. the Clippers either, but L.A. is looking like an upset special tonight. LAC played just an 8-man rotation on Tuesday, mostly because that's all they had. Terrance Mann knows his playing time is about to be cut with Beverley returning and Rondo debuting, but he's playing like he belongs with 28+ fp in five of the last six.

Tonight's SF / PF Notables

Kawhi Leonard DK $9.3k | FD $9k.6

vs. Denver

Something fishy about Denver being just a -1.5 favorite against a Clippers team that just lost to the Magic of all teams. Makes you think somebody is going to go off, and with all the LAC injuries the most likely option is Kawhi Leonard, who has a slight price increase but also a potential big production boost.

Brandon Ingram DK $7.8k | FD $8k

vs. Orlando

IF Zion Williamson and Lonzo Ball sit tonight, that gives Brandon Ingram a 3.64% usage and 5+ fantasy point boost. The Magic have played well the last two, but have also allowed 21&11 to Kyle Kuzma and 28/5/5 to Kawhi Leonard at the SF position. Both of those games went under 100 points, which seems unlikely with New Orleans' pace.

Edit: Brandon Ingram is doubtful tonight, if you use him make sure he is playing.

Rui Hachimura DK $6.8k | FD $6k

@ Detroit

With Beal sitting the last two games Rui Hachimura has taken 24 and 25 shots while averaging 38 minutes. Hachimura has hit 39+ fp in three of the last four, but Detroit held him to 14 & 6 on Saturday. Still a play if no Beal though, especially with the Pistons on 0 days rest.

Chuma Okeke DK $5.7k | FD $6k

@ Pelicans

Nice usage for Chuma Okeke since the Magic traded everybody away a week ago, going for 41, 29, and 31 fp the last three games. He's gotten 15, 11, and 11 shots and tonight gets a Pelicans team that could possibly be missing Zion Williamson at the PF spot.

Tonight's Center Position Notables

Bam Adebayo DK $8.3k | FD $9.4k

vs. Golden State

Ridiculous FD price, but 40fp seems to be the floor for Bam Adebayo tonight. You don't if Oladipo playing hurts (or helps) his production, but the Miami C has hit for 42+ fp in four of the last six, and Golden State has allowed 40+ to five straight at the center spot. The Heat are on the b2b, but don't have a ton of depth for bigs after the Olynyk trade.

Jakob Poeltl DK $5.9k | FD $6.4k

vs. Atlanta

Jakob Poeltl has hit 6X this price for three straight games, something that has a great chance of continuing vs. an Atlanta team missing a major post presence in John Collins. Poeltl has 34 rebounds in the last three games, and the Hawks just allowed 14 boards to Deandre Ayton on Tuesday. San Antonio is on the back to back, but Poeltl played a manageable 30 minutes last night.
