Top NBA Plays 4/21| Lots of Games, Lots of Names (Missing)
It's a huge 12-pack for the NBA Wednesday night slate but a lot of big names are iffy for tonight. Damian Lillard is supposed to be back, Kyrie Irving could sit on the back to back, Ben Simmons might save up for tomorrow night's tilt with Milwaukee, Jimmy Butler is nursing an ankle, and Paul George is also on the b2b.
Those are just the players who are questionable, there's a ton of big names that continue to be out in the final few weeks before the postseason. It's going to be a gauntlet these last dozen-plus games, so let's check it out:
Today's NBA Matchups
Bulls (-3) @ Cavs, O/U 210, 7:00 PM ET
Chicago looked good in a 102-96 win in Boston on Monday night, which means this is the inevitable game where they get beat by the Cavs. This is a rematch of the game the Bulls won by 10 on Saturday off a 27/7/5 line from Nikola Vucevic (46fp).
Thunder @ Pacers (-9), O/U 230.5, 7:00 PM ET
The OKC losing streak has reached 11 games, most of them not close besides a couple 6-point defeats to Toronto and Detroit over the last week. Indiana will be without Domantas Sabonis (back) and Myles Turner (toe) on the post.
Suns (-1) @ Sixers, O/U 220.5, 7:00 PM ET
The Suns are road favorites in this showdown mostly because the status of Ben Simmons (illness), and Tobias Harris (knee) are questionable. Simmons' illness supposedly isn't COVID related, but the Sixers also play the Bucks tomorrow in the TNT game so minutes for Philly all around could be limited.
Nets @ Raptors (-4), O/U 229, 7:00 PM ET
The fact that Toronto is favored would really suggest that Kyrie Irving sits on the second leg of a back to back after 48fp (in 38 minutes) last night vs. the Pelicans. Then again, the Raptors possibly getting Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, and maybe Fred VanVleet back could be driving this spread.
Warriors (-2) @ Wizards, O/U 238.5, 7:00 PM ET
Looks like a 🐴h-o-r-s-e 🐴 matchup between Russ and Steph. Stack them and find value at the bottom of this huge 12-gamer?
Hawks (-1.5) @ Knicks, O/U 218, 8:00 PM ET
Both teams are on the back to back here, which makes it somewhat weird that Atlanta is a -1.5 favorite. The Knicks get no respect even on a 7-game win streak, although three starters did log 37+ minutes. The Hawks were able to preserve some minutes in an easy win over Orlando last night.
Jazz (-11.5) @ Rockets, O/U 225.5, 8:00 PM ET
Blowout spot for the Jazz, who got 13+ points from six different players in Mondays win over the Lakers. A very hit or miss game here.
Heat @ Spurs (-1), O/U 215.5, 8:30 PM ET
The Spurs being favored in this one points to Jimmy Butler (ankle) missing a third straight game. Bam Adebayo (knee) also sat vs. the Rockets on Monday.
Pistons @ Mavericks (-10.5), O/U 218, 8:30 PM ET
Detroit has held three of their last opponents to 105 points or less, does that continue against a Dallas team that has lost 4 of 5?
Grizzlies @ Clippers (-2), O/U 227, 10:00 PM ET
Kawhi Leonard (foot) might be out for some time but does Paul George join him on the bench after a hard-fought 113-112 win over Portland last night? George had 33 & 11 last night but in 37 minutes. Jonas Valanciunas (concussion) will sit again for Memphis.
Nuggets (-1.5) @ Trail Blazers, O/U 230, 10:00 PM ET
How is Denver just a -1.5 favorite against a Portland team on the back to back? Damian Lillard (hamstring) is expected back after sitting against the Clippers, but Portland has still lost 6 of their last 8.
Timberwolves @ Kings (-4.5), O/U 239.5, 10:00 PM ET
A rematch of last night's 130-124 Timberwolves win. D'Angelo Russell (42.75), Anthony Edwards (46.5), and Karl-Anthony Towns (66) made the DK perfect lineup so...chase or fade?
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Luka Doncic DK $10.8k | FD $11k
vs. Detroit
It's not very often you can get Luka Doncic in an 🔭Under the Radar🔭play but that's the spot we're in with everybody focusing on how to play the Russ vs. Steph matchup. Doncic is also in what's expected to be a blowout game vs. Detroit, but it won't be. The Pistons are allowing nearly 40fp to PG over the last 20 games, so lock and load Luka.
Malcolm Brogdon DK $7.7k | FD $7.5k
vs. OKC
The blowout is in play with the Pacers favored by 9 over OKC, but Malcolm Brogdon has upside with a 4.65% usage and 13.23 fp bump without Sabonis and Turner. OKC is giving up 39fp to opposing PGs over the past month (30th) and the position is +313 over that span.
Darius Garland DK $6.8k | FD $7.2k
vs. Chicago
Darius Garland had 22 points and 12 assists on Saturday against Chicago, landing him 47 fp and in a second straight perfect lineup. The Cavs guard has 20+ points and 6+ assists in three consecutive games so why not go four?
🍺Other Likes🍕 - Buddy Hield ($7k) price tag is a bit high and he only had 24fp last night vs. Minnesota, but the Wolves give up 35.01 to SGs.
Jordan Clarkson ($6.6k) 46 and 32 minutes in two games without Donovan Mitchell and against Houston's #30 defense vs. reserves.
Duncan Robinson ($5.5k) possibly no Herro and Butler and a matchup with a Spurs team that gives up 35+ fp to opposing SGs.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Bojan Bogdanovic DK $5.9k | FD $5.4
@Houston
Bojan Bogdanovic has a 30fp floor over his last five games, taking at least a dozen shots in each. He's got a matchup with a Houston team allowing 32fp to starting SF over the past month.
Aleksej Pokusevski DK $5.7k | FD $4.8k
@ Indiana
Big upside on Aleksej Pokusevski tonight against a Pacers team missing Sabonis and Turner in the frontcourt. Indiana has allowed 39+ fp to three of the past five PFs they've faced.
Aaron Gordon DK $5.5k | FD $5.1k
@Portland
That price seems criminally low for Aaron Gordon but then again so does his production lately. Gordon has a 32fp ceiling over the last 8 games (yuck) but still gets a great matchup vs. a bad Trail Blazers defense also playing on the b2b. Portland has given up 50+ fp to DeMar DeRozan and Paul George at the SF spot the last three, and allow 30+ to the position over the past month.
🍺Other Likes🍕 - Rudy Gay ($4.5k) Spurs have Detroit tomorrow night, and Gay could get extra minutes vs. a Miami team that is 26th defensively vs. reserves.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Karl-Anthony Towns DK $10.4k | FD $10.5k
@Sacramento
We've got a re-KAT as Towns had 26/18/5 (with 4 blocks) last night vs. Sacramento. The rematch should produce more of the same, as the Kings are giving up 11 rebounds a game to C's over the last 20. Play it back.
Rudy Gobert DK $8k | FD $8k
@Houston
Rudy Gobert is a nice pivot from Towns or Embiid as he's up against a Houston team allowing 16 points and 10 boards to opposing C's. Precious Achiuwa had 11 rebounds vs. the Rockets, Wendell Carter, Jr. 10, and Nikola Jokic 16 over the last three games.
