Top NBA Plays 4/23| Closely Guarded
It's Guard night on this 7-game NBA slate. Russell Westbrook is a walking triple-double right now, Steph Curry has a disappointing night when he doesn't hit 40 real points, Kyrie Irving plays Boston again which he loves, and Damian Lillard vs. Ja Morant has some big game potential.
There are other positions out there obviously, but it's looking like the backcourt is going to decide this slate. Let's plug and play the right ones:
Today's NBA Matchups
Heat (-5) @ Hawks, O/U 214, 7:30 PM ET
There's no Trae Young (ankle) tonight and Clint Capela (back) is questionable. That gives Kevin Huerter the best boost at +13.6 fp, but the matchup isn't great for any Atlanta player against a Heat team that has allowed 87 and 91 points the last two.
Celtics @ Nets (-4.5), O/U 229.5, 7:30 PM ET
Brooklyn seems like a strange favorite here which would point to Kevin Durant (thigh) getting back in the lineup. Boston is on the back to back though, beating Phoenix 99-86 last night.
Cavs @ Hornets (-1.5), O/U 210, 8:00 PM ET
Charlotte is a -1.5 favorite tonight despite being on the back to back and getting destroyed 108-91 by the Bulls last night. That's a same Chicago team that Cleveland beat 121-105 on Wednesday so...do the math?
Clippers (-10.5) @ Rockets, O/U 221.5, 8:00 PM ET
Oddsmakers have this a 🕯️Blowout Game🕯️ for the Clippers even without Kawhi Leonard (foot). That could be accurate though as LAC beat Memphis by 12 points last time out on the back to back and without Paul George (rest). Houston has lost two straight by 20+ points.
Wizards (-9) @ Thunder, O/U 230 8:00 PM ET
A rematch of Monday's 119-107 Washington win in which Russ Westbrook had a modest 13/11/17 (61fp) vs. his old 'mates. Does he amp that up considering this game is in his old stomping grounds of Oklahoma City?
Nuggets (-3) @ Warriors, O/U 227.5, 10:00 PM ET
Denver is 12-2 over their last 14 games but are still just a -3 point favorite visiting Golden State on Friday night. Could that have something to do with Steph Curry dropping 53 real points on them (69fp) 11 days ago? If there's a way to stack Russ and Curry tonight I think you do it.
Grizzlies @ Trail Blazers (-3.5), O/U 232.5, 10:00 PM ET
Good target game with the betting total, and the fact that Memphis has allowed 115+ in four straight and Portland has the 2nd worst defensive efficiency in the league. The 'Blazers are on a three game losing streak and have slowed down the pace - scoring, but also allowing, less than 110 in three of four.
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Russell Westbrook DK $11k | FD $11k @ OKC
Steph Curry DK $10.3k | FD 10k vs. DEN
It goes without saying but it needs to be said, these guys are building blocks tonight. Steph Curry has 40+ real points in 4 of the last 6, while Russell Westbrook is an assist shy of 10 straight triple-doubles.
Terry Rozier DK $8.7k | FD $8.1k
vs. Cleveland
Let a couple down games and a 5-15 outing last night drive ownership away from Terry Rozier. He has 53 and 69 fp in his last two home games, including a 22/8/7 line against Cleveland 9 days ago. Rozier has 8+ assists in five straight and 6+ rebounds in four of five so he's a stat sheet filler.
Reggie Jackson DK $5.6k | FD $5.5k
@ Houston
Reggie Jackson is fresh after sitting the back to back against the Grizzlies on Wednesday. He also had 26/7/4 (49fp) vs. Houston earlier this month, which is no fluke as the Rockets are giving up 38.35 fp to starting PGs over the past 20 games.
🍺Other Likes🍕 - Kyrie Irving ($10.1k) a nice pivot from Curry or Westbrook as he has 60+ in two games vs. Boston this season.
Kevin Huerter ($5.8) ownership will be low because of the Heat, but he gets the best boost of Atlanta with Trae Young out. Lou Williams ($4.3k) has also hit 8X in two games vs. the Heat this year.
PJ Dozier ($3.8k) Golden State's defense is 28th vs. reserves, and Dozier has seen a minutes increase lately with 24, 37, and 25 the last three.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Jayson Tatum DK $10k | FD $9.5
@Brooklyn
Boston is on the back-to-back tonight, but that's actually good for Jayson Tatum as Kemba Walker usually sits in these spots especially after playing 36 minutes last night. Jaylen Brown is also questionable with a shoulder injury and if they both sit it's a 5% usage and 13 fp bump for Tatum. Not to mention, the Nets have allowed 43+ fp to 4 of the past 5 PFs they've faced.
Bogdan Bogdanovic DK $7.8k | FD $7.5k
vs. Miami
The matchup isn't the best vs. a Heat team that is 11th defensively vs. the SF spot, but with Trae Young and possibly Clint Capela joining the litany of injuries for the Hawks this means you have to get some exposure on Bogdan Bogdanovic. He has 16+ shots in six straight games (40+ fp in five of those), and that's with Young playing.
Davis Bertans DK $4.3k | FD $4.8k
@OKC
The minutes should be there for Davis Bertans, as Washington is a 9-point favorite vs. OKC. That's especially true with Deni Avdija now lost for the season (ankle) and Rui Hachimura (knee) out tonight. Bert has 30+ fp the last two, and you pay to see how he does in the starting role.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Nikola Jokic DK $10.9k | FD $11.3k
@ Golden State
There's not a lot behind Nikola Jokic at the C position for tonight's slate, especially with Clint Capela a GTD. Jokic is a solid build around up against a Golden State team that has allowed a dozen rebounds to 3 of the last 5 C's theyve faced, while Jokic has 66+ fp in two of the last three.
Ivica Zubac DK $5.4k | FD $5.6k
@Houston
You can get Ivica Zubac as a starter cheaper than Enes Kanter as a reserve or Moses Brown as a starter who plays less than 20 minutes lately. Zubac has the matchup against a Houston team allowing 17/10 to opposing C's the past month. The Clippers big man has upside games in him, hitting for 35+ fp in 3 of the last 7. On a night when we can stack high priced guards and everybody else is on Jokic, Zubac can get us there.
