Top NBA Plays 4/5|Not Today, Late Scratch
It's an interesting 7-game slate to kick off the NBA week, every matchup tips off at 7:00 PM ET except for the Suns @ Rockets game which goes at 8:00 ET. This could be good and bad - there are no games that pass us by due to a late scratch in the West Coast game, but also no West Coast games to rely on if there are players that sit out early.
The good thing is, we're all in the same boat so let's see if we sink or swim here:
Today's NBA Matchups
Knicks @ Nets (-5), O/U 216.5, 7:00 PM ET
Brooklyn duped everybody yesterday by losing to the Bulls 115-107 as -2.5 favorites. Sure the Nets didn't have James Harden (questionable tonight) but the Bulls had lost six straight and looked pretty bad doing so. Any Kyrie rest after logging 38:46 yesterday? The fact it was an early Sunday game probably puts him in the lineup tonight.
Wizards @ Raptors (-4.5), O/U 227.5, 7:00 PM ET
Washington was at least a great DFS target when they were losing games 142-138. Now the Wiz aren't scoring or giving up points, with the last three losses being 114-104, 120-91, and 109-87. That being said, the Raptors are a total crapshoot, losing four straight then beating the Warriors by 53 last Friday.
Jazz (-4.5) @ Mavericks, O/U 223, 7:00 PM ET
As of Monday morning, the Jazz are +800 to win the NBA Championship, still behind the Nets, Lakers, and Clippers. It might not be a bad idea to get in on that, because Utah isn't messing around right now beating Orlando by 46 on Saturday even while the Jazz were on the b2b. The fact that the spread has dropped a point might mean an upset by the Mavs tonight, but the Utah big picture remains.
Kings (-4.5) @ Timberwolves, O/U 235, 7:00 PM ET
Possibly tread lightly on what seems to be the best target of the night with a betting total at 235. Sacramento's 129-128 loss to the Bucks on Saturday came with the Kings on the back-to-back, and they had scored 106 or less in 3 of 4 prior. The T'Wolves have been held to 108 or less in 7 of the last 8.
Pistons (-3) @ Thunder, O/U 213, 7:00 PM ET
Oddsmakers just threw a number out there for this one because they know nobody is watching this eyesore. NBA League Pass is blacking out this game domestically and internationally, just for the greater good of society.
Cavaliers @ Spurs (-9), O/U 217, 7:00 PM ET
Are the Spurs in any position to be giving -9 points right now? Make no mistake Cleveland's closest margin in the last three games was a 14 point loss to the Heat on Saturday, but the Spurs are 2-6 on a recent 9-game homestand. There are some opportunities on the post with Jarrett Allen and Larry Nance being out tonight, but that betting of 217 isn't promising.
Suns (-14) @ Rockets, O/U 222, 8:00 PM ET
Definitely 🕯️Blowout Game🕯️ potential here. As a side note blowout games are real as we saw this weekend 👇👇👇
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
De'Aaron Fox DK $9.2k | FD $9.3k
@ Minnesota
Although I like this game going well under the 235 betting total, it doesn't mean De'Aaron Fox can't still have a huge night. For one, Minnesota is likely missing Ricky Rubio (back), Malik Beasley (hamstring), and Jaylen Nowell (leg) in their backcourt.
Also, there's really not much value on the other spend up plays tonight. Luka Doncic plays a good Jazz defense, James Harden is iffy with his hamstring, Russell Westbrook ($11.1k) is priced like real estate in a good school district, etc.
Kevin Porter DK $7.3k | FD $6.2k
vs. Phoenix
That DK price is ridiculous, but under the radar, PGs vs. Phoenix are a thing, especially for Kevin Porter with a lot of potential blowout minutes. The Suns have given up a 19 point, 13 assist night to Trae Young (an expected 47.5 fp) but also a 30 real point outing to Devonte Graham and a 33 real point game to Theo Maledon over the last four games. FD play for sure.
Darius Garland DK $6.4k | FD $5.9k
at San Antonio
The Cavs/Spurs game isn't expected to be the most dynamic contest on the slate, but there's upside on Darius Garland. The Cleveland SG has the matchup, as San Antonio has allowed 40+ fp at the position to the likes of Tyrese Haliburton, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Caris LeVert.
Jalen Brunson DK $5.4k | FD $4.9k
vs. Utah
There's a chance things are over early for the Mavs tonight, as Utah has blowout potential every single night. Jalen Brunson has also hit the perfect lineup in two of the last three, and with Luka Doncic in the lineup all games.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Julius Randle DK $9.6k | FD $9
@Brooklyn
Julius Randle made the perfect lineup in his last trip to Brooklyn, going for 33/12/6 (64fp) on March 15th. Randle also clocked a 45 fp day on Saturday despite a 44-point win at Detroit and also gets a Nets team on the back to back after a loss to Chicago yesterday.
DeMar DeRozan DK $8.2k | FD $7.9k
vs. Cleveland
It feels like the Spurs are cool with falling out of the postseason race, but at the same time, nobody told DeMar DeRozan. San Antonio has recently fallen into the 9th spot in the West on the heels of a 2-6 homestand, yet DeRozan has gone for 40+ in 4 of the last 5.
OG Anunoby DK $7.2k | FD $7k
vs. Washington
Buy in on OG Anunoby for the guaranteed 5X and hope for the 6 or 7. Kyle Lowry (foot) is already out, and there's a chance Fred VanVleet (hip flexor) sits against the 5th worst defense in the league. Anunoby hasn't seen the Lowry/VanVleet absence boost since Norman Powell was traded, so let's see where it goes.
RJ Barrett DK $6.7k | FD $6.8k
@Brooklyn
A Knicks front-court stack isn't the worst thing in the world when they play a Nets team on the back to back. This game has extra special meaning for RJ Barrett not just because it's against a Brooklyn team 5 miles away on 7th Avenue, but also because Steve Nash is Barrett's Godfather. Barrett has 41 and 31 fp this year vs. Brooklyn, upside in cash for sure.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Karl-Anthony Towns DK $10.6k | FD $11k
vs. Sacramento
All the COVID angles from Karl-Anthony Towns aside (having it, coming up on the 1-year anniversary of losing his mother), the Minnesota big man is just playing well right now. He's gone for 30+ real points in three of the last four and has grabbed at least a dozen rebounds in six straight. Against a Sacramento team missing Bagley and Whiteside and making a trip East of the Mississippi for the first time in two weeks this is a 🔒🔒🔒
Moses Brown DK $7.1k | FD $6.8k
vs. Detroit
The OKC at Detroit game is an eyesore, but there's potential for the elder statesman 21-year-old Moses Brown, up against 19-year old Isaiah Stewart. The Detroit rookie gets the starting nod with Mason Plumlee and Jahlil Okafor among the walking wounded in the Detroit front court. Stewart is also only 6'9" though, giving up 5" to the 7'2" Brown.
(Could also play Stewart at $3.7k for the contrarian angle)
