Top NBA Plays 4/9| Retro Night
DeMarcus Cousins (30) and Isaiah Thomas (32) are by no means old timers, but it's still been awhile since they were DFS relevant. We don't need to necessarily break out the Clear Pepsi and put on our JNCO's, but Cousins has value against the Rockets and Thomas could get a huge minutes boost if Lonzo Ball sits (hip) on this Friday slate.
Overall it's a 9-gamer tonight, so let's grab a Werther's Original and turn on some Matlock for what could be a nice retro night.
Today's NBA Matchups
Pacers (-4.5) @ Magic, O/U 222.5, 7:00 PM ET
The Pacers found some offense on Wednesday, beating Minnesota 141-137, even on the back to back and without Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, and Malcolm Brogdon. Orlando is coming back to reality, allowing 130+ in two of the last three.
Timberwolves @ Celtics (-8.5), O/U 227.5, 7:30 PM ET
Oddsmakers like the Celtics big tonight, but they could still be a target considering Minnesota has allowed 120+ in three of four, including 141 to a shorthanded Pacers team playing on 0 days rest last time out.
Grizzlies (-1) @ Knicks, O/U 215, 7:30 PM ET
Memphis hasn't lost to a team not named the Jazz since March 19th. They are 0-3 vs. Utah over that span, but 8-0 against everybody else. The Knicks meanwhile have lost 5 of 6, but have also held five opponents to 102 points or less over that span.
Sixers (-6) @ Pelicans, O/U 228.5, 8:00 PM ET
Last two nights off for Philadelphia, New Orleans playing their third game in four nights. The Pelicans are getting torched in the back court lately, but Ben Simmons has only broken 31fp once in the last six games.
Bulls @ Hawks (-2), O/U 227, 8:00 PM ET
Chicago isn't expected to get beaten too horribly tonight even though they are on the short turnaround. Then again they were up by 22 at one point last night vs. the Raptors. The Hawks gave up 131 to Memphis on Wednesday, but were also playing on the b2b. The Bulls allowed a 38 point, 19 rebound game to Chris Boucher last night, but Atlanta is pretty banged up in the frontcourt.
Hornets @ Bucks (-8.5), O/U 223.5, 9:00 PM ET
Milwaukee being a -8.5 favorite despite being on the back-to-back would suggest that Giannis Antetokounmpo returns after missing the last three games with a sprained knee. The Bucks are not only on 0 days rest, but are back home following a six-game, nearly two week West Coast swing so an 🍳Egg Game🍳 wouldn't be a complete shocker.
Spurs @ Nuggets (-8.5), O/U 220, 9:00 PM ET
A rematch of Wednesday's game where Denver scored a workmanlike 106-96 win a night after beating the Pistons by 15. That was somewhat of a win for the Spurs, who had allowed 125+ in three games prior (all L's).
Wizards @ Warriors (-4.5), O/U 238.5, 10:00 PM ET
Definitely a target game with the highest betting total of the night by 10 points. Washington won this 124-110 a month ago, but neither Russ Westbrook or Steph Curry played.
Rockets @ Clippers (-12), O/U 222, 10:00 PM ET
John Wall needs a rest day after scoring 31 real points to lead the upset over Dallas on Wednesday. Kelly "the Worm" Olynyk had 18 rebounds in that game but oddsmakers still like the Clips' by a dozen here even on the b2b.
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Steph Curry DK $9.9k | FD $9.6k
vs. Washington
There's upside in Steph Curry vs. Westbrook/Beal tonight. Washington has been giving up some big time points to mid-tier (or lower) PGs, allowing 35+fp to Michael Carter-Williams and Deandre' Bembry the last two. Curry has 32+ real points in four straight.
Kevin Porter, Jr. DK $7k | FD $6.4k
@Clippers
Not a great matchup for Kevin Porter, but the Clippers are on the back to back and are a dozen point favorites. Houston is also in the John-Wall-Out game, and Porter has 15+ shots in two of the last three in the starting PG spot.
Devonte' Graham DK $6.8k | FD $6.6k
@Milwaukee
Jrue Holiday is a great defender, but even he is working against Milwaukee's pace and an increased offensive load with Antetokounmpo out. Some big name PGs have had solid games vs. the Bucks lately, but Devonte' Graham still has value with Milwaukee on the back to back and playing in their first home game after a six game road swing.
Will Barton DK $5.4k | FD $5.9k
vs. San Antonio
Will Barton has thrived since Gary Harris isn't breathing down his neck anymore. The Nuggets SG has 15+ real points in four straight, adding 4+ assists in each and 4+ rebounds in three of four. That includes 14/4/5 vs. the Spurs on Wednesday (31fp) but also with Denver on the b2b. He's got the same matchup tonight.
Isaiah Thomas DK $4.7k | FD $3.9k
vs. Philadelphia
Isaiah Thomas has gone 4-13 and 4-12 shooting in his first games since joining the Pelicans. He's also played 25 and 19 minutes, which could increase with Lonzo Ball back to battling a hip pointer. Check in here, for the 20 fga night.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Jayson Tatum DK $9k | FD $8.8
vs. Minnesota
Somebody on Boston is going to have a big night vs. the Minnesota defense, why not Jayson Tatum? He launched 21 times, grabbed 10 boards, and dished out 5 assists on Wednesday vs. a good Knicks team. The T'Wolves have allowed 21 points and 12 rebounds to Harrison Barnes and 32/5/4 to Tobias Harris at the PF spot over their last three games. Good enough.
Draymond Green DK $6.7k | FD $7.5k
vs. Washington
The FD price is a bit much, but Draymond Green still has value on DK. He's got a nice up-down trend going (which means nothing, I know) and went for just 25fp in what should have been a great pace matchup with the Bucks. You go back to the well here vs. the Wizards, and then cross Green off the list in the future if he fails to perform in two straight upside games.
Kyle Anderson DK $5.9k | FD $6.9k
@ New York
FD put a needle in this balloon, but how do you not roster Kyle Anderson on DK as he's making a play for Cash Game MVP over the past couple weeks? Anderson has hit the perfect lineup in 5 of the last 7 and still hasn't eclipsed $6k (so far). The matchup isn't the best against the Knicks, but Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown just combined for 57 points, 20 rebounds, and 8 assists from the forward position vs. the Knicks on Wednesday.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Wendell Carter, Jr. DK $6k | FD $6.8k
vs. Indiana
Still a nice upside night for Wendell Carter, Jr., who got a vote of confidence from Orlando management after they decided to buy out Khem Birch on Wednesday. WCJ had just 24 points in what should've been a solid matchup vs. the Wizards, but gets an Indiana team without Myles Turner tonight. Indiana has allowed at least a dozen rebounds to three straight at the C spot.
Demarcus Cousins DK $5.5k | FD $4.1k
vs. Houston
Finally a FD advantage tonight. Demarcus Cousins is with the Clippers now, and although he logged 0 minutes last night they might have been saving him for the mini 🗡️Revenge Game🗡️vs. Houston. DMC hasn't played since February 17th, but there's GPP upside with 1% ownership and L.A being on the b2b as well as dozen point favorites.
"The role that Cousins had was hard. There were times where it was a bit difficult for him — and I totally understood that.” silas
A look into DeMarcus Cousins' short stint with the Houston Rockets & why Kelly Olynyk is a better fit next to Wood.
