Top NBA Plays 5/1| Overload for the Overlords
The pandemic of no sports doesn't seem that long ago as we binge on just an overload of sports on this beautiful Saturday. Whatever you lose on Known Agenda (11:1) in the Derby today can easily be recouped with tonight's 10-game main slate for the NBA. So, let's get to it.
Today's NBA Matchups
Pistons @ Hornets (-7), O/U 214 7:00 PM ET
This one looks ugly all around. Detroit has lost 4 of 5 and the Hornets 4 of 6. There could be some value on Charlotte having the last 2 nights off, but they're also (possibly) returning LaMelo Ball and Malik Monk.
Warriors (-8) @ Rockets, O/U 232.5 7:30 PM ET
Houston has lost 5 of their last 6, but erupted for a 143-136 win over the Bucks on Thursday. That pace and defense should make this game a target, especially since the Warriors have allowed an average of 129.5 ppg their last two.
Bulls @ Hawks (-5), O/U 217.5 8:00 PM ET
Atlanta welcomed Trae Young back last night, but does he play on the back to back after just missing four games? Chicago is on 0 days rest too, falling by 10 at home to the Bucks on Friday night.
Heat (-11.5) @ Cavs, O/U 208.5 8:00 PM ET
Oddsmakers like the Heat for a 🕯️Blowout Game🕯️coming off 2 nights rest against a Cleveland team on the b2b. The Cavs have dropped 8 of 9, so it's definitely possible.
Grizzlies (-11.5) @ Magic, O/U 220 8:00 PM ET
Memphis won this matchup in a very hard to watch 92-75 contest at home last night, but now the back to back shifts to Orlando. Probably steer clear of this one just in case it's a repeat.
Pelicans (-4) @ Timberwolves, O/U 238 8:00 PM ET
You'd think this would be a solid target game with that betting total but the Pelicans have actually allowed 103 or less in 3 of their last 5. Minnesota has given up 107 or less in 3 of 4 as well.
Pacers (-6.5) @ Thunder, O/U 233 8:00 PM ET
Indiana would be a target against - vs. anybody but the Thunder. The Pacers have allowed 130+ the last two, but OKC has been held to 95 and 90 points in two of the last three.
Wizards @ Mavericks (-5), O/U 232.5, 9:00 PM ET
The Wiz are on the b2b tonight, but Friday's 29 point win over the Cavs was pretty stress free. Russ Westbrook had an efficient 15/12/11 in 31 minutes, and Bradley Beal played just 26 so it's full bore in what should be a good game against a Dallas team that has won 5 of 6.
Raptors @ Jazz (-7), O/U 217 10:00 PM ET
The Raptors defense has been giving it up, allowing 116+ in 3 of 4, but the Jazz are coming off a 21-point loss to the Suns last night that brought Phoenix into a tie for 1st in the West. Kyle Lowry (rest) is going to sit and Fred VanVleet (hip flexor) might ride the pine as well. There's also a chance Donovan Mitchell returns for Utah here.
Nuggets @ Clippers (-5), O/U 221.5 10:00 PM ET
Great target game here, because the teams are separated by 0.5 games for the 3 seed in the West. Whoever gets the 4 seed likely has the Lakers in the 1st round of the postseason compared to the Mavs or Blazers so it's a big one.
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Russell Westbrook DK $11k | FD $11k
@ Dallas
Have to believe this is a 6X floor for Russell Westbrook tonight. He's on the back to back, but not really after a 29-point win over the Cavs last night. Russ is likely a bit amped up to face Luka Doncic and is an assist and 5 rebounds shy of 15 straight trip-dubs.
Caris LeVert DK $8.3k | FD $8.1k
@OKC
There's a chance Domantas Sabonis (back) returns tonight for Indiana but also the possibility that Malcolm Brogdon (hamstring) sits. If both of those guys are out, hello +13.5fp boost for Caris LeVert vs. an OKC team that he dropped 50+ against on April 21st.
Kevin Porter, Jr. DK $7.4k | FD $6.1k
vs. Golden State
Kevin Porter, Jr. has played two games since John Wall was officially lost for the season, scoring 23fp and 78fp. That's quite the difference, but you get in to see which is the true Porter, especially against a Golden State team that ranks 25th defensively vs. the PG position over the past month.
🍺Other Likes🍕 - Steph Curry ($10.6k) is in a go-off spot vs. a Rockets team that ranks 28th defensively vs. the PG. You just worry about the blowout there.
D'Angelo Russell ($6.9k) in a nice spot vs. a Pelicans defense that is iffy vs. the backcourt.
Devonte Graham ($6.4k) ownership is gonna drop if LaMelo returns but Graham has hit 40+ in three straight. Good matchup vs. Detroit as well.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Christian Wood DK $8.7k | FD $8.7
vs. Golden State
Nice spot for Christian Wood, who has 50+ fp in the last three games. He's up against a very thin Warriors frontcourt and has 37 shot attempts and 27 rebounds combined the last two games.
Darius Bazley DK $6.4k | FD $6.7k
vs. Indiana
Definitely attack a very weak Pacers frontcourt right now, even if (or maybe especially) if Sabonis returns. Darius Bazley has a recent up-down roller coasting going and only hit for 25fp last time out. The Pacers are 22nd defensively over the past month and Baz is +20% in up tempo games.
🍺Other Likes🍕 - Brandon Ingram ($8.3k) is going to get you your 40fp in cash games tonight. He's got a floor of 36 and a ceiling of 42 over the last six games and faces a T'Wolves team that is 25th defensively vs. the SF.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Clint Capela DK $8.6k | FD $8.4k
vs. Chicago
You can find your spots in C's vs. Chicago, and this is definitely one for Clint Capela. Both the Bulls and Hawks are on the b2b, but Capela played just 17 minutes last night as the 76ers were up 19 by halftime. Nikola Vucevic on the other hand logged 36 minutes vs. Milwaukee and didn't look healthy as he was a GTD to start with. The Bulls have also allowed 36+ fp to four straight C's.
Kelly Olynyk DK $7.3k | FD $8.6k
vs. Golden State
Stack against the Golden State front court possibly missing Draymond Green (among others) tonight? Wood and Kelly Olynyk look like solid plays, as Olynyk has hit for 47+ fp in four straight games. The Rockets big man has 8+ boards in 4 straight, 20+ points in all of those, and even an 11 assist game in that mix so he's feeling his role right now.
