Top NBA Plays 8/20| Is It Time to Flex?

The #1 seeds in the NBA are back in action today, both looking down the barrel of 0-1 series deficits. The perception would be that Milwaukee and the Lakers got their complacent games out of the way and they start to flex in game two.

What the wins by the Magic and Trail Blazers did though is give the underdogs confidence and they could actually be teams to target in game two. The Thunder/Rockets and Heat / Pacers games also seem like they could go either way, so it's looking like another exciting full day of playoff hoops.

Let's get to it then:

Today's NBA Matchups

Heat (-4) vs. Pacers), O/U 217 1:00 PM ET

Thunder vs. Rockets (-2), O/U 226 3:30 PM ET

Magic vs. Bucks (-13), O/U 226.5 6:00 PM ET

Trail Blazers vs. Lakers (-6.5), O/U 228.5 9:00 PM ET

Guards

Goran Dragic DK $5.9k | FD $6.2k

To quote the Wedding Singer Robbie Hart, Kendrick Nunn being out of the Miami rotation last game was "INFORMATION I COULD HAVE USED EARLIER" after liking the rookie as a sleeper play. That looks like the way the Heat are playing it moving forward, which should clear another big day for Goran Dragic.

Dragic looked great vs. Indiana and had great usage with 34 minutes and 19 shots. He had his lowest assist total in the last three games (5) and still had 43fp. Erik Spoelstra likes the veteran presence of Dragic on the floor with youngsters like Bam Adebayo (23) and Tyler Herro (20).

Dragic has a steady floor...when he plays.

Eric Gordon DK $4.9k | FD $4.9k

Whatever shots James Harden doesn't take are available for whoever else is in the back court. The starting front court of P.J. Tucker, Danuel House, and Robert Covington were 9-23 from the field in game one, which isn't a lot of attempts. Eric Gordon was that backcourt overspill recipient on Tuesday, going 7-17 en route to a 31fp night. Game one was just his 3rd contest back after missing the beginning of the bubble with an ankle injury and his minutes and points have gone up each time.

Gordon sees a slight production boost when Westbrook doesn't play.

Terrence Ross DK$4.8k | FD $5.3k

Strangely enough, Orlando having the lead and eventually winning game one over Milwaukee kind of hurt Terrence Ross' production. He still had a solid 18 points and six boards but we're looking for those down-by-20-time-to-launch numbers from Ross. He also battled foul trouble in game one so expect much higher upside today.

Forwards

Carmelo Anthony $5.9k | FD $5.5k

There should be a setting in DFS like there is in stocks where if you see Carmelo Anthony in the playoffs for under $6k you buy as much as possible. Anthony took the fewest shots over the last six games in going 3-11 and still had a better than 6X night with 37fp in game one. Anthony added 10 boards and 5 rebounds to get his numbers and does anybody think game two is going to be another 100-93 type final score? The O/U is 228.5.

Anthony is a 6X machine at this price.

Gary Clark DK $3.3k | FD $4.1k

Gary Clark had a solid game with 15 points and 6 rebounds stepping into Aaron Gordon's PF role. Gordon is questionable (hamstring) today but Orlando's upset over the Bucks showed they are just fine with their rotation. That bodes well for Clark who took all 12 of his shots from the field beyond the arc. Milwaukee was last in the league in opponents three pointers made per game (due largely in part because they were always winning by so much but still) and Clark has proven he isn't afraid to take a few.

Danilo Gallinari DK $6.6k | FD $6.5k

Danilo Gallinari continued his recent strong play against the Rockets in game one, going for 29 points in 33 minutes. He ended up with a 40fp night despite grabbing only three rebounds. Gallinari's last three games against the Rockets have now gone 29/3, 25/13, and 23/11. Good enough for me in what should be another up-paced game.

Gallinari just likes this matchup vs. Houston

Center

Steven Adams DK $5.6k | FD $5.9k

I think you go back to the Steven Adams well at the center position today. The 6'11" Adams is a man amongst boys on the blocks against Houston's 6'7" Robert Covington and 6'5" P.J. Tucker. That showed in game one when Adams grabbed 12 boards and was able to go 7-13 from the field for a 36fp night. The Rockets were up by as many as 23 in game one, so Adams was limited to 27 minutes. A closer game two should mean more court time.

Center ownership is all over the map today.

Today's SuperDraft multiplier must-play is Carmelo Anthony at 1.65X. Shot just 3-11 in game one and still had a 6X night thanks to 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Should be a much higher scoring game two between L.A. and Portland.
