Top NBA Plays 8/21| Defining Day
We're onto game 3's in the NBA postseason which seems to be the ripe point for DFS purposes. With two games in the book, rotations are starting to be better defined and after today, we can tell if players like Norman Powell are the 6 point, 3-rebound performers from game one or provide 24/6 output like in game two.
Brooklyn is in danger of falling down 0-3 to the Raptors and the Sixers also need a win being down 0-2 right now to the Celtics. Utah gets Mike Conley back as they look for an edge in the 1-1 series against Denver and Dallas looks to push towards the upset again as they are 1-1 vs. the Clippers.
Let's see how the projections and pricing break down:
Today's NBA Matchups
Raptors (-10.5) vs.Nets, O/U 220.5 1:30 PM ET
Nuggets (-1.5) vs. Jazz, O/U 218 4:00 PM ET
Celtics (-5) vs. Sixers, O/U 216 6:30 PM ET
Clippers (-5) vs. Mavericks, O/U 232.5 9:00 PM ET
Guards
Garrett Temple DK $5.1k | FD $4.9k
You knew Garrett Temple was going to have a better shooting night in game two than his 1-10 from three point range in game one. Now the question is if the Brooklyn guard can be as good as his 5-11 from three performance on Wednesday. Either way, 28 shots through the first two games is something to build on for this price, especially with Joe Harris abruptly leaving the bubble yesterday.
Jordan Clarkson DK $5.5k | FD $5.4k
Jordan Clarkson is trying to make himself some money in these playoffs before becoming a free agent in the offseason. The Jazz guard has averaged 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists through the first two with Denver. Mike Conley is back for Utah, but Clarkson's role off the bench should stay pretty consistent. Conley will start at PG and Joe Ingles will slide to the SF position.
Lou Williams DK$5.6k | FD $5.6k
Clippers vs. Mavericks is definitely a game to target tonight with the highest betting total, 12 points higher than any other matchup on the slate. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are going to eat up a big chunk of that for L.A., but Lou Williams provides value as well. Williams started to heat up in game two (8-13 from the field 5-6 from the free throw line) and has provided decent peripherals with a 3.5 rebound, 6 assist average through two games.
Forwards
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot $4.6k | FD $5.1k
Joe Harris was going to be a play here (depending on price) but he's left the bubble. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot slides into the starting SF position for Brooklyn and provides instant value at $4.6k. Harris had just come off a 14 point, 15 rebound night in game two and "TLC" should be able to scoop up a lot of that usage. Luwawu-Cabarrot was solid in game one even with Harris in the lineup, scoring 26 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
Joe Ingles DK $5.7k | FD $5.7k
Mike Conley returns tonight but does that give Joe Ingles a value boost as he slides back into his familiar small forward spot? Ingles was getting some nice shot opportunities at SG, going 6-14 and 7-12 in games one and two. His major role is a three point shooter though (5-12 and 4-9) and you'd think the looks will be clearer with another facilitator like Conley in the lineup. Ingles not having to guard Jamal Murray anymore helps too.
Tobias Harris DK $7.5k | FD $7.1k
Is Tobias Harris about to reward those who stuck with him through games one and two? Tobias is in a funk, shooting 6-15 and 4-14 so far vs. Boston. He's still got upside because of peripherals that include 8 rebounds and 8 assists in game one and 10 boards on Wednesday. Philadelphia needs something after losing by 27 points in game two, so let's see one of those 25 shot nights from Harris.
Center
Jarrett Allen DK $7.1k | FD $7.4k
One of the bright spots for the Nets, despite being down 0-2 to the Raptors, has been the play of Jarrett Allen against the normally strong defensive presence of Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka. The Raptors are a top 5 defense vs. the center position, but Allen has gone for 15/12 and 14/15 in games one and two for a 40fp average. The big man also played 40 minutes in a close game two, so that should continue this afternoon.
