Top NBA Plays 8/6 | One Week Down

Tonight marks one-week since the NBA has returned to action. It's gone by quick, but at the same time it seems the restart happened longer than a week ago because there are so many games to digest all day long...which is a good thing.

It's a 6-game schedule today but the 1:30 PM ET Pelicans vs. Kings game is off the main slate. That leaves five games that seem like they all could be pretty high scoring on the slate. Let's get into it.

Tonight's DFS Headlines

Heat vs. Bucks (-8.5) , O/U 222.5

4:00 PM ET

Miami may be a bit short-handed vs. Milwaukee, as Jimmy Butler and Goran Dragic are both nursing injuries. At the same time, Milwaukee is getting healthier with Pat Connaughton, Eric Bledsoe, and maybe Brook Lopez are all back in the lineup after missing time in the bubble. Wesley Matthews could be rejoining them soon too.

__________

Pacers (-2.5) at Suns, O/U 229.5

4:00 PM ET

Indiana and Phoenix have both started off 3-0 in the bubble. This game might turn into a glorified version of h-o-r-s-e, as TJ Warren and Devin Booker have been the two most consistent scorers of the restart.

__________

Clippers (-4.5) vs. Mavericks, O/U 230.5

6:30 PM ET

Do you spend up for Luka Doncic tonight after his 30/20/10 triple-double on Tuesday that netted 84 fantasy points? Is it even spending up at $11.3k? Both teams have lengthy postseason runs in them, but are also just 1-2 in the bubble. There's no Patrick Beverley tonight for L.A., but they also welcomed Lou Williams back last game.

__________

Trail Blazers (-3.5) vs. Nuggets , O/U 230.5

8:00 PM ET

Denver is 3-0 vs. Portland this year and has won 9 of their last 10. Things get a little different in the bubble though, especially with the Nuggets playing on the back-to-back after a high-paced 132-126 win over the Spurs yesterday. The Blazers can also move within 1/2 a game of the 8 seed with a win.

__________

Lakers (-1) vs. Rockets, O/U 227.5

9:00 PM ET

The Lakers may be resting up for the postseason after clinching the #1 seed in the West. Los Angeles was dismantled by 19 points against the Thunder on Wednesday and will now face another team trying to prove their mettle for the postseason in Houston.

Guards

Tyler Herro DK $3.6k | FD $3.9k

Duncan Robinson might be the trendy Heat slot here as Miami plays without Jimmy Butler and possibly Goran Dragic. It's actually been Tyler Herro who has averaged more shots than Robinson since the NBA restart and in fewer minutes.

Herro is also less expensive than the $5k Robinson but still gets the +7 pace increase of playing the Bucks. Milwaukee has allowed 112, 120, and 119 points in three games since the restart.

Herro gets a nice usage increase without Butler and others.

Dion Waiters DK $3.7k | FD $3.8k

Could it be a breakout game for Dion Waiters? He has scored 20+ fp in 3 of 4 games in the bubble but that has come against the Clippers, Raptors, Jazz, and Thunder - 4 of the top 12 teams in scoring defense. The Lakers have Houston tonight as the Rockets rank 23rd in opponents points and 5th in pace.

Waiters has taken double-digit shot attempts in each game he's received more than 20 minutes. Los Angeles is on the back-to-back tonight after being destroyed by 19 vs. the Thunder last night. Why not empty the benches with the #1 seed already clinched and let Waiters launch?

Reggie Jackson DK $5.8k | FD $4k

The d-Con is out and we're falling for the Reggie Jackson trap play tonight. There's no Patrick Beverley for the Clippers, which moves Jackson into the starting lineup vs. Dallas. The Mavs have been getting torched from the PG spot in the restart, giving up 60fp to Russell Westbrook, 50 to De'Aaron Fox, and 40 to Ricky Rubio.

Jackson has a 34fp night in the bubble but he's also been held to under 25 minutes in two of three games. Jackson gets a boost in both close games and up-pace contests, which this should be tonight as the Clippers are -4.5 favorites but with a betting total of 230.5.

The potential is at least there for Jackson

Forwards

Paul Millsap DK $5.3k | FD $4.8k

Denver is on the back-to-back tonight after outlasting San Antonio 132-126. Paul Millsap played just 17 minutes in that game, as Mike Malone rode the hot hands of Michael Porter, Jr. and Jerami Grant. Porter and Grant combined for 52 points and 17 rebounds - but each played more than 34 minutes as well.

You'd have to think at least Porter's minutes are cut tonight after battling a major knee injury a couple years ago. That opens the door for Millsap against Portland's #30 ranked defense vs. the PF position. Jaren Jackson opened up the bubble with a 43 fp game vs. the Blazers and Gordon Hayward pushed 40 as well.

Kelly Olynyk DK $4.8k | FD $5k

The only way to derail the Kelly Olynyk train is to get on it. Some people would think we're late to the KO party after he has posted 36, 31, and 41 fp so far through three games in the bubble. With no Jimmy Butler though, that opens up some usage for the Heat.

Olynyk has played 31 and 32 minutes the last two games, which should only continue after he dished out 8 assists Tuesday vs. the Celtics. Miami plays a Milwaukee team that could also be missing Brook Lopez down low this afternoon. Olynyk is PF eligible on DK.

Olynyk is trending upwards.

TJ Warren DK $8.4k | FD $8.8k

Why not? T. J. Warren is making a case for 'Bubble MVP' as he's put up 53, 34, and 32 real points in three games. Warren has two 70-burger games in Orlando and has taken 29, 26, and 17 shots in three contests.

The Pacers play Phoenix this afternoon, a team that traded Warren along with the 32nd pick to Indiana in June of 2019 for cash considerations - and that's it. Warren is comfortable in the bubble and he's motivated vs. his old team today.

Center

Deandre Ayton DK $7.2k | FD $7.5k

That's really not a bad price for Deandre Ayton matched up against the Pacers, who have been getting dominated down low in the restart. Joel Embiid had the 41 & 21 bubble debut vs. Indiana while Thomas Bryant and Nikola Vucevic have each backed that up with 42.5+ fp nights.

Ayton shot the ball 18 times last game and that was against the Clippers' top 10 recent dVp against centers. Ayton opened up the bubble with a 50 fp spot going 11-14 from the floor and grabbing 12 boards. The big man should be able to repeat that against Indiana's 25th ranked defense vs. the center.
