Top NBA Plays May 16th| Drama Finale

The last day of the regular season has plenty of drama, and it's weird drama because the main slate largely predicates on how the early games go. This might be a night where you put lineups in seconds before lock because it's going to be a topsy-turvy night. Let's enjoy this last blast:

Today's NBA Matchups

Rockets (-10.5) @ Hawks, O/U 232 7:00 PM ET

The Rockets have the worst record in the league locked up, so they'll have a great shot at the #1 pick win or lose. Atlanta only has something to play for if the Celtics upset the Knicks at 1:00 PM ET, but Boston is locked into the 7 seed and will likely rest for the play-in.

Cavs @ Nets (-14), O/U 225 7:00 PM ET

The Nets can clinch the 2 seed with a win, but Steve Nash has said he'd prefer to rest Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Blake Griffin as much as possible. The Nets played with their full arsenal for the first time in three months last night, and don't have a ton of DFS value against lowly Cleveland.

Magic @ Sixers (-8), O/U 218.5 7:00 PM ET

Tough game here, Philadelphia has nothing to play for (locked into the 1 seed) and Orlando needs a loss to ensure finishing 3rd in the draft lottery. Who wants it less?

Heat (-5) @ Pistons, O/U 216 8:00 PM ET

Miami is basically in a no reason game. Their loss to the Bucks last night ruined any realistic shot at the 4 seed. The Heat can shut things down if the Knicks beat the Celtics in the early tilt, but Atlanta also plays Houston so Miami is probably looking at the 6 seed regardless of how the Pistons game shakes out.

Nuggets @ Trail Blazers (-10.5), O/U 230.5 9:00 PM ET

Crazy spread in favor of Portland, but they need a win to avoid the play-in game. The Nuggets will likely take a dive and hope that the Clippers beat OKC, as the 4-seed is more appealing in the West than the 3 seed and a possible matchup with the Lakers.

Jazz (-9.5) @ Kings, O/U 224.5 9:00 PM ET

The Jazz get home court throughout the playoffs with a win, but they may not even need it if the Suns fall to the Spurs at 2:00 PM ET. Considering Phoenix won by 37 against San Antonio yesterday, expect a big night from Utah.

Clippers (-8) @ Thunder, O/U 220 9:00 PM ET

Another who wants it less game. The Clippers literally started Scrubbs (Jay) last game and lost to the Rockets. OKC needs a loss to finish 3rd in the lottery with Orlando. Not exactly a ratings draw here.

Bucks (-2) @ Bulls, O/U 223 9:00 PM ET

If the Nets beat the Cavs earlier in the day, this game means nothing for the Bucks. A Bulls loss puts them in the 8 seed for the lottery by themselves instead of a potential tie with the Pels and Kings with a win. 🤔🤔

Mavericks (-6.5) @ Timberwolves, O/U 230 9:00 PM ET

Not a ton on the line for Dallas, as they'll be on the road to start the first round of the playoffs it's just a matter of against who.

Lakers (-10.5) @ Pelicans, O/U 220 9:00 PM ET

L.A needs a win tonight vs. the Pelicans and a Denver win over Portland to avoid the play-in game. The games tip off at the same time, so the Lakers have to play this one all in.

Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables

Damian Lillard DK $9.4k | FD $9.9k

vs. Denver

Great spot for Damian Lillard in a must-win game not just to avoid the play-in for Portland, but to make the Lakers participate in it. Lillard has 20+ shots in three big games down the stretch, and we might see 30+ launches tonight.

Jordan Clarkson DK $7.5k | FD $7.4k

@ Sacramento

There's a good chance the Suns beat the Spurs earlier in the day, which means Utah will have to get the W to clinch the #1 seed throughout the playoffs. Jordan Clarkson will be a big part of that against a Sacramento team that is extremely shorthanded and has nothing to play for.

Ignas Brazdeikis DK $3.8k | FD $4.5k

vs. Orlando

Ignas Brazdeikis dropped 21 real points on the Magic on Friday, and should get even more playing time as the Sixers have nothing at stake and Orlando would actually benefit from losing.

🍺Other Likes🍕 - CJ McCollum ($7.6k) everything to like about Lillard tonight holds true for McCollum.

Buddy Hield ($7.6k) seems like a 'don't care, launch frequently' game for Hield in the season finale. Utah could have nothing to play for if the Suns lose, and Hield has hit 40+ in two games vs. the Jazz this season.

Coby White ($6.5k) you could see Coby launch tonight with the Bulls short three guys in the backcourt (LaVine, Brown, Satoransky) and in a game that possibly won't mean anything for the Bucks if the Nets lock in the 2 seed earlier in the day.

Tonight's SF / PF Notables

Kristaps Porzingis DK $8.3k | FD $7k

@ Minnesota

Dallas doesn't really need anything but playoff momentum in this game. Kristaps Porzingis has returned for 20 ppg and 7.5 rpg the last two and is up against a Minnesota squad that ranks 29th vs. the PF over the past month. The Unicorn has 76, 64, and 53 fp in his last three vs. the Wolves.

Norman Powell DK $5.9k | FD $6.6k

vs. Denver

It feels like the Trail Blazers take no chances tonight, up against a Denver team that doesn't mind losing, and with Portland having the chance to relegate the Lakers to a play-in game. It will be a struggle to get shots from Lillard and McCollum, but Norman Powell has a solid matchup vs. a Nuggets squad that ranks 25th defensively vs. the SF. Josh Jackson and Anthony Edwards have hit for 44 and 51 from the position the last two vs. the Nugs.

🍺Other Likes🍕 -Anthony Edwards ($7.7k) last chance to pad the stats for a Rookie of the Year culmination and against a Dallas team that doesn't have a ton to play for.

KJ Martin ($7.4k) Atlanta probably won't have anything to play for, and Martin has hit the perfect lineup in 5 of 6.

Tonight's Center Position Notables

Kelly Olynyk DK $8.5k | FD $8.5k

@ Atlanta

There's a good chance this game doesn't mean anything for Atlanta if the Knicks beat the Celtics. This contest doesn't mean anything good or bad for the Rockets, which means Kelly Olynyk should close out the season on another high note, who has 20+ points in five straight.

Bam Adebayo DK $8.3k | FD $8.2k

@ Detroit

Miami doesn't have a ton to play for after their loss to the Bucks last night, but Bam Adebayo won't need a ton of minutes to put up a big spot vs. the Pistons. Adebayo has hit 50+ in two games vs. Detroit this season, a team that has allowed 40+ to five straight C's. With Embiid and Jokic in questionable 'important' games, Bam is a wild card.
