Top NBA Plays Wednesday March 23rd| Conspicuous By Their Absences
Just when we get Kyrie Irving back in play with Brooklyn having a road game, a number of other big names go out for this 11-game Wednesday night slate including Luka Doncic, Ja Morant, and Domantas Sabonis with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green sitting on the back to back.
As always, let's try to focus on who is playing tonight as we get after it.
🏀Top 5 Player Props March 23rd 🏀
LineStar has a new Player Prop tab that lets you search for the best individual props through apps such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and PointsBet. Here are some of the best bets for tonight:
🏀Jordan Poole(Over 24.5 points) -He's on the back to back against a good Heat defense, but Golden State is without Curry, Thompson, Green, and Porter. Poole has scored at least 26 in 4 of the last 5.
🏀Isaiah Stewart (Over 8.5 rebounds) - Playing an Atlanta team on the back to back and has grabbed at least 10+ in 4 of his last 5 full usage games. The Hawks have allowed double-digit rebounds to 4 of the last 5 starting C's.
🏀Davion Mitchell (Over 24.5 points & assists) - Had 28 points and 9 assists on Sunday starting for De'Aaron Fox. Now Sabonis is out for Kings as well against an Indiana defense that is in the bottom 6 in the league.
🏀Dwight Powell (Under 20.5 points and rebounds) - No Doncic tonight but does that help or hurt Powell? He went for 22/8 on Monday but that was just the 2nd time in the last 9 going over the 20.5 number.
🏀Christian Wood (Over 9.5 rebounds) - Dallas is giving up 10.5 rebounds/game to opposing C's over the last 20 games, and Wood has a 17 rebound performance in two games vs. the Mavs this season.
Tonight's Key NBA Matchups
Knicks @ Hornets (-8), O/U 225 7:00 ET
The Knicks are close to being mathematically eliminated from play-in tournament eligibility, but that's just a formality as the team sits 5.5 games back from the 10 seed with 10 to play. New York lost 117-111 to the Hawks last night, and now has to play on the back to back, possibly without Julius Randle again (quad), and against a Hornets squad that has won 5 straight.
Jazz @ Celtics (-5), O/U 216 7:30 ET
Donovan Mitchell has a stretch of four straight 29+ point games going, but he may need even more with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both equally hot with each having 25+ in their last four.
Warriors @ Heat (-7) , OU 211 7:30 ET
Orlando 94 - Golden State 90 last night in one of the ugliest Warriors games of the year. Obviously that happens when Steph Curry is out of the lineup, but how bad are things going to get on the back to back? It looks like Steve Kerr will bench Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on 0 days rest since they both just returned from injuries? Miami has some injury concerns of their own too though.
Nets @ Grizzlies (-1), O/U 238 7:30 ET
No team in the NBA is happier when a homestand ends than the Nets, who get Kyrie Irving back for just the second time in the last six games tonight. Memphis is not so lucky with Ja Morant (knee) missing a second straight game, but at least the Grizzlies are sitting well with likely home-court advantage in the 1st round as the #2 seed. Brooklyn is trying to scratch their way out of the play-in tournament, 3 games back from the Cavs for the #6 seed.
Suns (-1.5) @ Timberwolves , OU 237 8:00 ET
Phoenix can clinch the #1 seed in the West with a win combined with a Morant-less Memphis loss to the Nets. Minnesota meanwhile is just a game back from getting into the 6th seed and out of the play-in tournament so this one should be pretty good.
Sixers (-7) @ Lakers , OU 230.5 10:00 ET
Philadelphia beat Miami 113-106 on Monday despite being on the back-to-back and without Joel Embiid and James Harden who are both expected back tonight. L.A. had a big win in Cleveland on Monday, and are inching closer to securing their spot in the play-in tournament even though the Spurs and Trail Blazers are within 3.5 games of knocking either the Lakers or Pelicans out of the 9/10 seed.
